This makes a great centrepiece for any Christmas party.

What do I need?

  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 2/3 cup Nutella spread
  • 1/2 cup pecan nuts, finely chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp raw sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

How do I make it?

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C.
  2. Place one sheet of puff pastry onto a piece of baking paper on top of a cutting board. Carefully cut out a Christmas tree outline, ensuring you don’t cut through the baking paper.
  3. Spread the Nutella over the entire pastry tree and sprinkle with the chopped pecans.
  4. Place the second sheet of puff pastry over the top of the first. Press down gently to follow the outline of the bottom sheet and cut out a matching tree shape.
  5. Lightly score a central “trunk” on your tree from the top to the bottom. Then, cut the branches of the Christmas tree horizontally at 2 cm intervals on each side.
  6. Once all the branches are cut, twist them away from you until they are all curled.
  7. Brush the surface of the tree with the beaten egg. Gently lift the baking paper with the tree onto a baking tray.
  8. Bake in the oven for 18-20 minutes, until golden.
  9. While the tree is baking, mix the raw sugar and ground cinnamon together in a small bowl.
  10. Once the tree is baked, remove it from the oven. Brush with the melted butter and sprinkle with the sugar mixture.
