Speedy Microwave Fudge
Need a quick homemade gift that’s crafty, delicious and ready in no time? This easy microwave fudge is perfect for last-minute presents, just wrap in jars with ribbon for a festive touch.
What do I need?
- 140 g salted butter, chopped, plus extra for greasing
- 400 g golden caster sugar
- 397 g can condensed milk
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
- 2 tbsp brandy (optional)
How do I make it?
Grease a 20 centimetre square baking tin and line it with baking paper.
In a large heatproof bowl (at least 3 litres, as the mixture will bubble up while cooking), combine the butter, sugar, condensed milk and salt. Stir to mix.
Microwave on high (100% power, about 800–1000W) for 10 minutes, stirring every 2–3 minutes. Watch closely, as the mixture will bubble up and rise in the bowl.
Stir in the vanilla and brandy, if using. Microwave for a further 2 minutes on high, until thick and caramel-coloured.
Scrape into the prepared tin and smooth the top. Leave to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Pack into jars and decorate with ribbons and tags for a handmade gift.
