This chutney works well with just about anything but pairs especially well with cheese and crackers, or alongside sausages.
What do I need?
- 1.8 kg tart apples
- 450 g red onion
- 220 g sultanas
- 340 g dark brown sugar
- 700 mL cider vinegar
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
How do I make it?
- Put all ingredients in a large pan and cook down slowly till thick enough to draw the spoon through.
- Pot up into sterilised jars when still hot and seal.
- Leave to cool then label and store or give as gifts.
The recipe can be easily halved or doubled with no change to the flavour it will just take a bit longer or shorter time to make.
