There’s nothing more Australian than an ANZAC biscuit.
What do I need?
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 tbsp golden syrup
- 2 tbsp boiling water
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda (add a little more water if mixture is too dry)
How do I make it?
- Preheat oven to 160°C.
- Combine oats, sugar, and flour in a bowl and mix.
- In a saucepan, mix golden syrup, boiling water, and bicarbonate of soda until they froth. Add melted butter.
- Combine the butter mixture with the dry ingredients.
- Drop teaspoons of the mixture onto a floured tray, allowing room for spreading.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes or until deep golden. Allow to cool on baking trays for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
