A huge hit at any gathering and incredibly simple to prepare.
What do I need?
- ½ cup melted butter
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 ½ tbsp garlic powder
- ½ tbsp onion powder
- 1 large loaf of sourdough bread
- 450 g Monterey Jack cheese
- (or Havarti cheese), thinly sliced
- Parsley, to garnish
How do I make it?
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and onion powder. Set aside.
- Cut the bread diagonally into 2.5 cm slices, leaving about 1 cm intact at the bottom of the loaf (do not cut all the way through). Repeat the cuts in the opposite direction.
- Arrange the cheese slices in the cuts of the bread, then drizzle the butter mixture over the top.
- Wrap the loaf in foil and place it on a baking sheet.
- Bake at 180°C for 15 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with parsley and serve while warm.
