Lunar New Year Barbecue Pork Ribs

Packed with flavour and incredibly simple to prepare, these ribs are sure to become a family favourite.

What do I need?

  • 2 whole pork rib racks
  • 150 mL hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp clear honey
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder

How do I make it?

  1. Place the ribs in a large pan and cover them with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. While the ribs are simmering, prepare the glaze by mixing the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, vinegar, and Chinese five-spice powder in a jug until smooth.
  2. Once the ribs are cooked, drain them thoroughly and brush them generously with the glaze. If you plan to barbecue them later, cover and refrigerate the ribs until needed.
  3. Preheat the grill to high heat or prepare your barbecue. Grill or barbecue the ribs for 15–20 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are shiny and slightly charred in places. Serve the ribs hot.
